We sat down with Carolyn Voelkening, Senior Vice President of Service Delivery at Appspace, to discuss the newly launched Appspace Marketplace, announced at our recent workplace experience conference, WOW 2024. Carolyn shares the vision behind Appspace Marketplace, its benefits, and what’s still to come…
Carolyn: Of course! In simple terms, Appspace Marketplace is a web portal designed to help our customers find and integrate solutions into their Appspace environment. We’ve created a space where they can easily browse and add custom solutions, third-party apps, integrations, and content – all in one place. Ultimately, it’s about giving people easy access to the tools and services that’ll make it easier to get work done.
Carolyn: It opens up a world of possibilities! We’ve focused on three core areas: out-of-the-box integrations, custom solutions, and partner solutions.
The out-of-the-box integrations really highlight the strength of the Appspace platform. Our customers can explore apps and integrations that work with space management, space reservation, or workplace communications.
Custom solutions are another big part of Appspace Marketplace. We’ve taken some of the most popular workplace experience solutions and created straightforward workflows. So now, customers can access things like XY Sense sensors – they offer real-time occupancy data to allow users to book resources with pinpoint accuracy [Ed: You can see a great example of their work on our WX Hub!]. There’s also a MetraModo smart locker integration – so people can unlock their locker directly in Appspace or via a QR code, plus a custom Google Traffic card with multi-location support so you can get real-time, local traffic data on your digital signage with touchscreen interactivity. You can zoom in or filter by mode of transport. It’s very cool! It’s really about making these powerful tools easily accessible, through Appspace, to everyone across your organization.
Lastly, partner solutions are a key part of Appspace Marketplace. We’ve started by integrating two ServiceNow plug-ins. We’ve also added partner content channels with guides for platforms like Microsoft Teams Rooms and Cisco Room devices. We’ll have more partner integrations coming soon, so watch this space!
Carolyn: Partnerships are crucial because they help us broaden the scope of what our customers can achieve with Appspace. It means we’re able to provide seamless integrations that make the Appspace experience bigger than the sum of its parts. For example, the ServiceNow plug-ins allow customers to manage their workplace devices within ServiceNow, and to display ServiceNow dashboards directly onto their digital signage. Plus we offer partner content channels with tool tips for Microsoft Teams Rooms and Cisco Room devices. It’s an exciting time to see our partnerships and integrations extend the value of Appspace beyond just our platform.
Carolyn: Our goal is to help our customers create an easy-to-use, thriving workplace experience that meets the needs of their hybrid, remote, and in-office employees. We’ll keep adding new and innovative solutions, both custom- and partner-created, and we’re also planning to support customer-generated solutions in the future. It’s all about empowering our customers to have the tools they need at their fingertips without having to switch platforms or find that one tool is incompatible with another. I know how frustrating that can be!
Carolyn: We’ve always been at the forefront of workplace experience, but Appspace Marketplace takes that a step further by creating a seamless ecosystem of solutions. Whether customers need digital signage, space management, or tools for workplace communication, everything will be accessible in one place.
I think what really sets Appspace apart is our commitment to continuous innovation – take a look at Appspace Intelligence to see what we’re doing with AI, for example – and the strength of our partnerships. We’re not just delivering static tools, we’re building a platform that evolves with our customers’ needs – providing the right solutions at the right time – and that’s what will drive the future of workplace experience.
Carolyn: It’s a huge part of our vision for the future of workplace experience. We see it as the foundation for creating a dynamic, connected workplace where businesses can not only manage their spaces more effectively but also foster better communication and engagement across teams.
It’s also about growth – for our customers and for Appspace. By continually innovating and expanding our platform, we’re giving customers more ways to succeed, whether that’s through new integrations, custom solutions, or partner content.
